inspired entertaining :: baby shower love

This past fall, I had the pleasure to work on a dear friend’s baby shower. She left the gender of the baby a surprise which allowed me to have fun creating a new and playful theme. After a lot of brainstorming, we landed on “mustache or bow, no one knows”and it turned out awesome. The hostesses were ever so helpful and fabulous and together, we were able to create a very special day for a wonderful family. In fact, over the holidays, two awesome blogs picked it up and featured all the details!

inspired entertaining :: the picnic

plates | blanket | basket | wine stakes | cheese board
A picnic in the park is one of my favorite things to do on a summer’s evening. It’s the perfect opportunity to do a casual potluck with friends or an easy and romantic date night. Whichever you decide to do, make sure to have the essentials…
:: the picnic checklist ::

a picnic basket. this is a must and there are so many cute and practical options out there to pick from, like the vintage anchor basket shown above.

a big comfy blanket to cuddle up with and keep the grass stains at bay

reusable, outdoor dinnerware. let’s try to avoid bringing throw-away-plastic options and be eco-friendly. in fact, you know that cute picnic basket I was just talking about? Well usually it comes packed full of 2-4 place settings. What a bargain.

a cheese board. wine and cheese is pretty much a given at any picnic so grab an easy and portable one that comes with cheese knives too!

lastly, wine holders. okay, this isn’t a must have but how awesome are these wine stake? It’s the best way to ensure your drink doesn’t spill and is in reaching distance.

Have a happy weekend!

inspired entertaining :: summer scoops

It’s the time of year where I start to dream of frozen drinks, swimming pools and lemonade stands. It’s also the time of year where I officially welcome ice cream back into my regular diet.
(who am I kidding, I eat the delicious treat year round)

So with this sunny-day-dreaming inspiration, an ice cream social was formed.

:: ideas ::

Build-your-own sundae bar and supply all the essentials- chocolate sauce, caramel, sprinkles, nuts, mixed berries, candy pieces- And make sure to get a variety of yummy ice cream flavors, like Talenti.
(side note- if you haven’t tried this amazing gelato, please drop everything and run to the store.)

Bake your favorite cookies and make your own ice cream sandwiches. Once you fill the cookies with ice cream, roll the sides around in your favorite topping. I assure you this will be a crowd favorite!

Provide old fashioned soda pop with fun and quirky straws, but please, promise me that you’ll use the straws. we want this party to be fun, do we not?

Lastly, keep the party going all the way down to the serving pieces. Try these mini latte bowls from Anthropologie and pair it with the cutest wooden spoons from Sucre.

And if, after you read this, you are left wanting more, check out Sweet Cream and Sugar Cones for great recipes and inspiration.

Move over ice cream truck, there’s a new party in town. Cheers to the perfect, backyard soiree.

wedding wednesday :: tablescapes

Today, I want to share a simple, easy, and inexpensive way to make your table + place setting beautiful. You know the spices you use? Well, why not bring some of them into your styling? Herbs (fresh or dried) are the perfect detail for an intimate party or a big outdoor wedding. Try placing a twig of rosemary in your napkin or set a piece of lavender on your plate. There are so many ways to bring the simplicity of the garden to your table, adding the perfect vintage touch.
